my story blog

I've always had a passion to create and have always took interest in all aspects of art. I discovered my talent in makeup at a young age having been very active in the local opera and performing theatre arts community since i was 8 years old. There was something about getting ready for the big stage that made me shift towards the backstage of it all. In my post secondary years i knew that i had to pursue and study the art of makeup. I went to The School of Makeup Art in Toronto Yorkville in 2006. Since then i have been dabbling deep into the beauty industry, working in salon, retail and freelance. I had the opportunity to work at the MMVAs, Toronto Fashion Week, Toronto Film Festival, several nite clubs, fashion shows, charity events and trade shows. I also got to work alongside different celebrities such as Aaron Carter, Raven Symone and Sofia Milos to name a few. As well as with celebrity hair gurus like Oribe (rip) and Ken Paves.

I took a hiatus at the end of 2015 to pursue my second passion, cooking. My husband and i (together since 2000) wanted to join forces and turned our hobbies & love for food into a business where we can work, build and create together. We created a menu that combined our favourite cuisines & cultures based on our years of travel and food adventures. In 2015 our restaurant was opened for food lovers, friends and families. We thrived in our neighbourhood of Mississauga, creating a name for ourselves and dominating the local brunch scene with our unique flavour fusions. But in 2020, like other mom and pop shops, the lockdowns had failed us. Our once live atmosphere had been silenced by the sound of an empty restaurant thanks to the endless yoyo covid restrictions. The passion was misplaced. Covid may have taken our livelihood at the time, but it gave us the ability to slow down and recognize the value of spreading more kindness, establishing real connections and most importantly - family time.

With our young son beginning kindergarten, we decided to start fresh in cottage country. With a slower pace and a tight knit community, we figured this was the best way to raise our boy. The schools are great and the air is fresh. We can spend our time as a family and pursue our passions at our own pace, with hope to make a life and a living at the same time. I've decided to take my all my experiences in the hustle and bustle beauty industry and focus it all on helping brides prepare for their special day. With a lot of love and a lot of knowledge, i hope to be a great northern go-to beauty guru. I believe every woman should look and feel their best! My goal is to assist women in enhancing their natural beauty and radiate confidence. Especially on their big day!
